Keenan Allen, The Chargers Go To Guy

Updated: Jun 11, 2024

Keenan Allen, the Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver has been nothing short of spectacular this season. The 11 year veteran from Cal is quarterback Justin Herbert’s favorite and most reliable target. In his most recent outing, a 41-38 loss to the Detroit Lions Allen pulled in 11 catches good for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns despite being sidelined briefly with a shoulder injury.

When asked about his shoulder he said, “It’s fine. It’s nothing I can’t play through”.  Allen continues to be the leader for the Chargers. His grit and fight during the game seem to be contagious.

Throughout his tenure, Allen continues to provide stability for the Chargers. His play speaks for itself. Whether it be his great route running, incredible pass catching, or his ability to block from the receiver position, Allen always produces at a high level.

Allen recently eclipsed 10,000 receiving yards and shows no signs of slowing down. He is 1 of 2 Chargers all time to have more than 10,000 receiving yards. The other being former Chargers all-pro and future hall of famer tight end Antonio Gates. Allen is roughly 1,800 yards behind Gates and at this rate, there’s no doubt Allen will surpass Gates next season.

With their most recent loss, The Chargers have fallen below .500 at 4-5, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy midway through the season. However, Allen is not in a panic about their playoff chances.

“I’m not concerned at all, the offense did a hell of a job today, the defense played great last week, so it’ll all come together”. Allen plans to keep his miraculous play going next week when the Chargers face the Green Bay Packers at frigid Lambeau Field.
