Long Beach native Antonio Pierce was recently named interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Since Pierce has been at the helm the Raiders have played with a sense of urgency, and renewed energy.
Under Pierce, the Raiders have pulled off back-to-back wins, including a 30-6 win over the New York Giants and a 16-12 win over the New York Jets getting back to .500 with a 5-5 record. Currently in second place in the AFC West, the Raiders will attempt to extend their winning streak to three games when they head to Miami to face the Dolphins on Sunday, November 19. Pierce is pictured above talking to his defense during a pre-season game against the Los Angeles Rams at Sofi Stadium when he was the defensive coordinator.
Before getting the call to coach in the NFL, Pierce served as the head coach of Long Beach Poly High School from 2014-17 leading them to consecutive Moore League Championships during his tenure. photo: Chapman.
